About

Hi! I'm Olly Jackson, a 40-odd year old culture and technology loving geek living in Edinburgh with my wife, two sons, daughter, and a cat.

I did thirteen years in the wild world of digital agencies - initially at the legendary Whitespace, then as part of Dentsu Creative after acquisition. I worked my way up from OG Web Developer, to team leader, then head of department and member of the Board. Previously, I worked for Valley Technology / Podfather as a Web Developer on our SaaS platform and various bespoke web apps. Straight out of university I spent two years working for Scotweb Marketing at the e-commerce coal-face of Scotweb Store and on various client sites.

In my spare time I do freelance web development and design.

Bio

I was born in Sheffield, England, in the marvellous year of 1981 and moved to the small industrial suburb of Thornaby before I was 1. My parents and I lived there for a couple of years before moving to the slightly larger industrial suburb of Billingham. I attended Bewley Infants and Junior School and then went on to Billingham Campus School. After my GCSEs I gained a place at Bede College where I studied Computing, Mathematics, Business Studies and General Studies. I then upped sticks and moved to Scotland to attend Edinburgh University to study Computer Science. After university I had grown to like Edinburgh so much I decided to stay! I've now lived here for over twenty years and love it.

If you're fascinated by my life story so far and crave more information there is a page of random facts about me.
