Me
Hi, my name is Oliver Jackson. I'm 27 and an internet, culture, technology and good-food loving Web Developer living and working in Edinburgh. In 2004 I graduated from Edinburgh University with a Computer Science Bachelor Of Science Honours degree. On the day of my results I had an interview with Scotweb. I worked as a Web Developer on ScotwebStore for three years until I fancied a change. From June 2007 I have been working at Valley Technology as a Web Developer. We do bespoke software development using mainly Open Source technologies and general IT support and infrastructure work.
I was born in Sheffield, England, in the marvellous year of 1981 and moved to the small industrial suburb of Thornaby before I was 1. My parents and I lived there for a few years before we moved up the road to the slightly larger industrial suburb of Billingham. I attended Bewley Infants and Junior School and then went on to Billingham Campus School. I did ok in my GCSEs and gained a place at Bede College where I studied Computing, Mathematics, Business Studies and General Studies. I got through them and then went on to Edinburgh University. The Site
My first website was really just a site "for the sake of having a website" with lots of spinning animated gifs and "hot chicks I like". Then I discovered style-sheets and pretended to be some kind of graphic designer, with lots of blurry photos that took too long to download. Then the whole blogging thing took off, my friend Alex had the first one that I can remember. I stuck one on my site and it slowly became the only bit that got updated. Everything else was gradually trimmmed off until I ended with basically a "front page blog". In early 2005 I had a re-design and a good purge of useless pages. As of August 2006 I moved away from using the domain cyber-junky.co.uk. I felt it was a little immature for my now non-student professional life style (ha!). I now redirect everything to ollyjackson.co.uk.
